We’re honoured to have TimeOut featured in an episode of Hospice Heroes, sharing the story of TimeOut recipient Katimeli and the difference a holiday break can make for families living with incurable illness.

The episode follows Katimeli as she receives compassionate support from the incredible team at Tōtara Hospice. With the help of Genevieve, Tōtara Hospice’s Pacific Cultural Liaison, Katimeli and her whānau were able to enjoy a much-needed TimeOut stay together.

One of the most touching moments in the episode is watching Katimeli arrive at her holiday home for the first time. Her joy, gratitude and excitement capture exactly what TimeOut is all about—creating opportunities for families to step away from the challenges of illness, reconnect with one another, and make precious memories together.

We’re incredibly grateful to Katimeli and her whānau for allowing their story to be shared, and to the wonderful team at Tōtara Hospice for the care and support they provide every day. Their collaboration helped make this special break possible and highlights the importance of working together to support families when they need it most.
